• We understand that’s quite a bold statement to proclaim. To be fair, we can’t blame it all on job portals. Their main function is to simply be the intermediary between employers and jobseekers. In this fairly simple relationship, there is plenty of oversight, as far as information is concerned.

    In a bloated market of resume-peddling, there is no system in place to verify any of the information available - job seekers would ‘pad’ their resumes in order to look more attractive to potential employers. At times, they would even seek out jobs outside of their interests, skill set or job scope out of convenience.

    Likewise, employers either release very little information regarding the job scope and the company’s expectations; or they might post inaccurate job descriptions which would attract talent that might not be right for the job.

    These are among some of the factors that create a mismatch between jobseekers and employers, and according to MIDF and Khazanah Research Institute (2018), is the number one reason for the current state of youth unemployment in Malaysia. This is where we come in...

    Pikoje’s raison d’etre is simple - we strive to better match the right talents to the right jobs, through the minimization of skill mismatching occuring in the market.

    To do this, we engage both learning institutions and various key industry players alike in an information-sharing collaboration. By gathering big data from both parties, we are able to more effectively fill the gaps that most recruitment platforms would often overlook.

    This allows for more effective screenings of jobseekers, even before proceeding to the interview process, which will save employers a lot of time and effort, while narrowing the options available to the most suitable talents for the posts.

    Through this information sharing, learning institutions will also be able to gather invaluable feedback on the performance of their graduates, directly from the industries involved. This will allow the institutions to fine-tune their existing course structures to better reflect the demands of the industry, which will improve the quality of local education, and thus, the quality of the local pool talent.

    As for the employers, our platform offers over 1000 industry-standard, job description templates, in order to better represent the employer’s needs.


    Our work won’t stop there. Along with ongoing fine-tuning of our platform in order to produce the most accurate results, we will also offer additional support to all our key stakeholders; such as training programmes and education to job seekers; rankings for local higher institutions, among others. Improving the quality of local pool talent doesn’t end at addressing skill mismatching, after all.


  • At Pikoje, our mission is clear - to match the right people with the right opportunities. In doing so, we have narrowed down the 3 key stakeholders for this information-sharing platform to work.

    Sometimes, we just need to rip off the ‘truth band-aid’ - graduates nowadays are ill-prepared for the working world. They lack the understanding regarding their own field of studies; the possible career paths, minimum salaries, expected working hours, advancement options and so on. Then there are the basic skills that most should have, but don’t - creating an appealing and presentable CV, being well-prepared for an interview, among others. What you have in the end, is a capable pool of talents who don’t really know how to properly present themselves to the working world.


    Like the job seekers, employers may also unintentionally misrepresent themselves when a capable talent comes calling. From posting inaccurate job descriptions, or omitting otherwise useful information to the jobseekers (such as the employer’s expectations, company culture, etc), seemingly minor discrepancies on the employer’s part would also lead to skill mismatching. Often times, all the information will only be laid out to both parties during the interview session. It seems unnecessarily inefficient that employers are unable to screen the right jobseekers effectively before the interview process to save time and effort.


    Playing an integral role to the success of our information-sharing structure are the learning institutions that collaborate with us. They serve as the data pool that equips us with all the necessary information, allowing us to verify and fill in otherwise missing information for the jobseeker’s behalf - thus allowing a higher matching rate to the right recruiters in need of their services.

    The relationship is of course two-way, as we help the participating institutions to market their students directly to key players in the industry - which in turn boosts the institutions’ marketability and public standings in the market. The information-sharing collaboration will also allow institutions to gauge the effectiveness of their academic programs via direct feedback from participating employers, in regards to the jobseeker’s performance. As such, the institutions will be able to improve themselves and indirectly increase the quality level of the education, and ultimately, the quality of the local talent pool.


  • A company’s culture reflects how the company will present itself to its target audience. Due to our mixed bag of young jobseekers, established institutions and key industry players, a fine balance is required for all that bears the Pikoje name.

    On one hand, we are professional, clean and efficient. Such traits are necessary to meet the high standards of collaborating institutions and employers.

    On the other hand, however, we must also retain a sense of youthfulness and forward thinking, in order to stay relevant and effectively help the scores of young job seekers that inhabit our job-matching platform.

    The right balance is also carried on into our company’s work culture - while every Pikoje staff is responsible to fulfill their respective duties in a professional and efficient manner, their health and well-being are also of utmost importance.

    After all, to nurture the future generation of capable and high-quality workers, we must first start with our own.
